A Proud Achievement

We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding accomplishment of ACG Jakarta graduate Sarah Omar Miski, who earned an impressive score of 37 in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.

“I was beyond grateful,” shares Sarah. “IB was a really tough time for me, so I was glad it helped me attend the university I wanted to go to.”

That university is the University of Manchester, where she will soon begin her studies in Economics and Finance.

A Passion for Economics and Maths

During her time at ACG Jakarta, Sarah found her academic interests sharpened, particularly in Economics and Mathematics.

“I can’t narrow it down to just one favourite subject, but definitely economics and math,” she says. “Part of my passion came from my teachers. For economics, it was the new perspective it gave me on the world. And while math was always a challenge, my teacher helped me see its value and real-world applications.”

Her choice to pursue Economics and Finance at university stems from a desire to understand and address social and economic disparities.

“I see so many inequalities in our economy. Studying economics feels like a way I can understand these issues better and eventually contribute to meaningful change.”

Preparing for the Future

Looking ahead, Sarah is excited about the opportunities awaiting her in the UK.

“I’m excited to meet new people and be exposed to better opportunities that I wouldn’t necessarily have here in Jakarta.”

Long-term, she hopes to apply her knowledge in ways that positively impact her community. “I see myself applying my knowledge to the community around me so I’m able to make a beneficial impact to others.”

Lessons in Resilience, Balance, and Self-Belief

Reflecting on the IB journey, Sarah shares that it was a transformative experience that built not only her academic capabilities, but also her personal resilience.

“The most significant things it taught me were patience, perseverance and working strategically. I didn’t always stay motivated, but I stayed disciplined. I set goals for myself early on, and even when things felt unclear or tiring, I trusted that my past self-set those goals for a reason.”

While the workload was demanding, it was the people around her who brought light to even the toughest days.
“I’m most proud of the relationships I built with the community. The little conversations with teachers and staff were what gave my tiring and stressful days light and life. I’ll forever cherish the people I met at ACG.”

She also credits a balanced lifestyle for keeping her grounded: “Working out, prayer and quality time with loved ones is all that I believe you’ll need to take care of your mental, emotional and physical health.”

Her advice for those starting the IB? “Trust yourself and don’t compare yourselves to others, because everyone is on their own journey.”

Looking Ahead

We are incredibly proud of Sarah – not just for her academic results, but for the compassion, perspective and determination she’s shown throughout her time at ACG Jakarta. We wish her every success as she embarks on her next chapter at the University of Manchester.
